A lot of reporting about the current Covid pandemic, especially while cases are on the rise again in conjunction with the onset of winter and the flu season, has repeated such phrases as “unprecedented”, “protect the NHS” or “these difficult times”. One that has stood out to me is “loneliness”. While we in these 7 villages are much more fortunate than many and see fewer cases, one of the reasons for this is the lower population, so that we can at least go out for a walk or try to get the garden under control. But for those living alone anywhere, loneliness is a big problem.
