The parishes of Much Cowarne and Moreton Jeffries are ancient rural communities situated amongst the rolling hills of north-east Herefordshire.

The land is productive and the area contains many farms. The total acreage is 4035 and the small River Leadon flows through Much Cowarne from north to south.
The population of around 350 is scattered throughout the parishes with a larger concentration at Burley Gate on the western side. The main roads to Bromyard (A465) and to Worcester (A4103) bisect the communities from west to east. There is a regular daytime bus service along the A465 between Hereford and Bromyard.
The ‘gems’ of Much Cowarne and Moreton Jeffries are the two churches with footpath access to both and ample parking at Much Cowarne. There are 31kms of footpaths within the parishes which are shown on the map overleaf. They are all signposted, way marked and are open for public use. Large scale maps of the parish footpaths can be found adjacent to the Burley Gate Post Office and in the church porches at Much Cowarne and Moreton Jeffries. Refreshments can be taken at The Community Shop in Burley Gate. There are also licensed premises just over the border into adjacent parishes.
Walkers are advised to wear suitable footwear as the paths can be very muddy at certain times of the year. Please observe the Countryside Code at all times and if any footpaths are found to be in need of repair please advise the parish council using the Contact link on this websites homepage to email the clerk
